Indira Rasoi Yojana has been started in all the urban bodies of the state from 20.08.2020. The name of this scheme is the former Prime Minister of the country Late. Named after Mrs. Indira Gandhi. The main objective of this scheme is to provide pure and nutritious food for two times according to the local taste by making the needy people sit respectfully at affordable rates.

Yojana started on 20 August 2020, Indira Rasoi Yojana has been launched by the Government of Rajasthan to provide 2 meals (breakfast / lunch) at low rates for the poor. By the district level committee, community buildings of municipal bodies, railway and bus stations, hospitals, mandis, square etc. have been provided free of cost in shelter sites of municipal bodies, Ambedkar Bhawans, community buildings and vacant buildings of NGOs at places with high population density. When was the Indira Rasoi Yojana started?
Indira Rasoi Yojana was launched by Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot from 20 August 2020. This scheme was started in all 213 civic bodies. Under Indira Rasoi Yojana, 358 permanent kitchens have been established in 213 municipal bodies, including 87 kitchens in municipal areas (Jaipur-20, Jodhpur-16, Kota-16, Ajmer-10, Bikaner-10, Udaipur-10 and Bharatpur-5 ), in Municipal Council areas (total 34 Municipal Councils), 3 kitchens per Municipal Council and 01 kitchen per municipality is being operated in each municipal area (total 169 municipalities). Announcement to increase the number of Indira Rasoi from 358 to 1000 in the state budget 2022-23. Inauguration of 512 new Indira Rasoi on 18th September 2022 by CM Ashok Gehlot from Sojati Gate Jodhpur. With the launch of new 512 Indira Rasoi along with 358 currently operating, now the total number of Indira Rasoi has increased to 870 in the state.
Objective of Indira Rasoi Yojana
The main objective of this scheme is to provide pure and nutritious food for two times according to the local taste to the needy persons at cheap rates by making them sit respectfully. Indira Rasoi Yojana has been launched by the Government of Rajasthan to provide 2 times meal (breakfast/lunch) for the poor at low rates.
Features of Indira Rasoi Yojana
- Pure, fresh and nutritious food for Rs 8 to the beneficiary
- 17 rupees per plate grant by the state government
- Provision of Rs 100 crore per year for the scheme
- Target to benefit 1.34 lakh people per day and 4.87 crore people every year.
- Operation of kitchens with the service and cooperation of local organizations
- The food menu mainly includes 100 grams of pulses, 100 grams of vegetables, 250 grams of chapati and pickle per plate.
- Decentralized format – District level committee has the freedom to choose the place, menu and meal time as per requirement.
- Information and feedback facility to the beneficiary through real-time online monitoring SMS gateway
- Provision for one-time basic expenditure of Rs 5 lakh and recurring expenditure of Rs 3 lakh per year for each kitchen operation.
- Inspection and Quality Check by State/District Level Committee
- Necessary provisions on kitchens to prevent corona epidemic
- Normally lunch will be provided from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm and dinner from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Indira Rasoi Yojana food menu
Food menu – Chapati, pulses, vegetables and pickles have been included in the food under Indira Rasoi Yojana and the menu can be changed according to the local taste as per the need of the local committee. There is a provision of giving 100 grams of pulses, 100 grams of vegetables, 250 grams of chapati and pickle per plate in the food.

Rajasthan Indira Rasoi Yojana grant amount
The state government used to pay Rs 12 per plate as grant to the kitchen operator on distribution of food. To which from January 1, 2022, the grant amount is being increased by Rs. 5 to Rs. 17 per plate. The state government will bear an additional financial burden of Rs 27.63 crore annually on this.
Indira Rasoi Yojana donation contribution amount
Individuals/institutions/corporates/firms can also contribute financially in Indira Rasoi Yojana. Donation/cooperation can be done only in the bank account of the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund or the registered district level Indira Rasoi. Industrial / business organizations can cooperate with the CSR Fund and these organizations can take responsibility for the entire operation of one or more Indira Rasoi on the basis of public participation. In the kitchen, you can sponsor lunch/night or both meals on the anniversary, birthday or any other occasion of your relatives, sponsored food will be available free of cost for the visitors to the extent sponsored. Your sponsored food can be displayed on the display board that “Today’s food Mr. ………. By …………………………. Sponsored by Reason.” The sponsor person cost amount will be paid into the respective bank account.

The application of Indira Rasoi Yojana will be done through online medium.
